[Prologue] Dionysus gives a monologue explaining his reason for coming to Thebes and that he will disguised as the human cult leader
[Parados] Chorus of Bacchants enter signing hymns of praise for Dionysus
[Episode 1] Tiresias and Cadmus want to go the Mount Cithaeron to worship Dionysus and try to convince Pentheus to join them
[Choral ode 1] The chorus denounces Pentheus and his oppression talking about the importance of humility and moderation
[Episode 2] A soldier enters with Dionysus. Pentheus interrogates Dionysus, Dionysus stays calm to the anger of Pentheus
[Choral ode 2] They once again denounce Pentheus and lament that their leader is captured and pray to Dionysus to save them
[Episode 3] Pentheus' palace is destroyed by a violent earthquake, and Pentheus made to look mad, imprisoning a bull and letting Dionysus walk free. Pentheus comes looking for Dionysus and Dionysus offers to take Pentheus to spy on the Baccants
[Choral Ode 3] The chorus hopes for revenge against Pentheus and say the gods can not be mocked with impunity
[Episode 4] Dionysus leads Pentheus, dressed as a woman, through the streets of Thebes. Pentheus is seeing double and completely mad
[Choral Ode 4] They sing of vengeance and inspire the Bacchants with rage against Pentheus
[Episode 5] A messenger arrives and describes Pentheus' death on Mount Cithaeron
[Choral Ode 5] The Chorus is triumphant and revels in Pentheus' death
[Exodos] The mad Agave carries the head of her son through Thebes, and the chorus starts to pity her. Cadmus arrives with the rest of Pentheus' body. Cadmus helps Agave break free from her madness and Dionysus appears as a God and justifies himself
