  • Google Sheets - lets you create spreadsheets online—collaborate with other people, perform calculations, create charts, import and download spreadsheets, etc.
  • to start using google sheets:
    • go to google drive
    • click on new
    • google sheets
  • Sheets home - directs you to the Google Sheets home.
  • Spreadsheet name - shows the name of the spreadsheet
  • Menu bar - contains different menus each with its own drop-down menu.
  • Toolbar - contains tools for editing elements in the spreadsheet.
  • Comments button - allows you and your collaborators to view existing comments, as well as add comments on a cell or element in the spreadsheet for others to see.
  • Share button - allows you to share your spreadsheet with other people.
  • Google Account button - shows the user account currently logged in to Google.
  • Formula bar - displays the formula or data in a selected cell.
  • Cells - each rectangular box in a worksheet where you can input data. It is the intersection point of a column and a row.
  • Sheet name - name of the sheet in a spreadsheet. You can add more than one sheet in a spreadsheet.
  • Calendar
    • displays the date and the day of the week
    • used when scheduling tasks and to remember special events
  • you can change the locale settings for a spreadsheet. like its:
    • default currency
    • date format
    • number formatting
  • to modify the spreadsheet timezone:
    • go to file
    • spreadsheet settings
  • Sheet - composed of rows and columns that can be manipulated and used for calculations.
  • to merge cells:
    • highlight the cells
    • click on merge cells
  • to hide rows and columns:
    • select or highlight the rows or columns you want to hide
    • right-click on it
    • select hide rows or hide columns
  • freezing rows and columns - allows you to lock some of your data in the same place as you scroll through the rest of your worksheet.
  • to freeze rows or columns:
    • click on view
    • freeze
  • Conditional Formatting
    • a set of formatting rules applied to cells which, if met, may change the cell's background color or text color
    •  Its purpose is to automatically change the format of any cell based on the value in the cell or other cells
    • it is useful for error-flagging and to instantly let the user know the underlying data.
  • to set conditional formatting:
    • go to format
    • conditional formatting
  • Project plan
    • include a plan of action and the reasons why these actions are necessary.
    • Its aim is to convince the reader to agree with and approve the recommended plan of action
  • Page break -  is a marker that indicates that the content that follows is on the next page.
  • 2 ways to add a page break:
    • go to insertbreakpage break
    • press Ctrl + Enter
  • Table -  data arranged in rows and columns
  • to insert a table:
    • go to insert
    • table
  • at maximum, you can add a table with 20 rows and 20 columns
  • to format a table:
    • right-click on any part of the table
    • choose table properties
  • Table border - allows you to modify the color and the weight of the border. 
  • Cell background color - allows you to modify the background color of the selected cells
  • Cell vertical alignment - allows you to modify the alignment of the contents of a cell to its top, middle, or bottom area. 
  • Dimensions - allows you to input the exact measurement for the cells’ column width and row height. 
  • Table alignment - allows you to modify the alignment of the table on the document itself.
  • Version history - lets you view the edits you and your collaborators have made to the document, as well as revert to earlier versions of your document
  • to view a document's version history:
    • go to file
    • version history
    • see version history
