Natural selection

Cards (3)

  • What is natural selection?
In simple terms its survival of the fittest in more complex terms it’s a process that results in the adaptation of an organism to its and environment by means of selectively reproducing changes in its genotype or genetic constitution.
  • What are the 4 requirments of natural selection?
    1. Overproduction of offspring: lots of offspring with limited resources leads to competition
    2. Variation
    3. Adaptation: Fitness,The best adaptions will become more common over time as the allow the organism to survive better.
    4. Descent with modification: A change in gene frequency overtime
  • What does natural selection lead to?
populations with new phenotypes adapted to new situations/enviornments
