  • Binary Fission - involves division of a parent to produce equal-sized daughter cells. Examples are amoeba, paramecium, bacteria
  • Fragmentation - in this method, the parent body breaks up into several pieces, these "pieces" or fragments develop into new organism. Examples are spirogyra, flatworms
  • Budding - Formation of buds or outgrowths from the parent cell or body, grow into new individuals. Examples are yeast, hydra
  • Spore Formation - involves reproduction by using spores that germinate into new individuals. Examples are ferns, molds.
  • Regeneration - ability of an organism to regrow a lost body part. Examples are sea star, planaria
  • Vegetative Propagation - reproduction by using plant parts. Examples are potato, onion
  • Methods of Vegetative Propagation:
    Leaf Reproduction - develop new plants along the margins of the leaves. Example is katakataka or kalanchoe.
