  • Bacteria can mutate so they are not killed by antibiotics
  • When an infection is treated with antibioitics, non-resistant cells are killed while resistant bacteria survive
    The resistant bacteria will continue to multiply and the population of the resistant bacteria will increase

  • It is important to finish a whole course of antibiotics so resistant strains don't develop / survive
