  • repeated measures is when all participants do the tasks for both conditions of the experiment.
  • advantages of repeated measures
    • participant variables. the same people do the test in both conditions, so any individual differences should not affect results
    • number of participants. fewer participants are needed to get the same amount of data
  • disadvantages of repeated measures
    • order effects. the order in which the conditions are done may affect the results of the experiment.
    • this can be helped with counterbalancing, which is when you have half of the participants doing the conditions one way around, and the other half in the reverse order
