  • Short-term aid activities then took over: Tons of debris were removed More permanent shelters were built Water supplies were re-established Roads and bridges closed by landslides were rebuilt
  • Over the next year: Continued to supply temporary shelter, Hygiene kits, cooking kits and water supplies Experts constructed water tanks and sanitation facilities in some worst-hit districts 17,000 farmers were given seeds and farming tools so they could start growing food 5000 small businesses were rebuilt
  • By 2016: Most NGOs had moved from relief operations to the recovery phase Over 1400 engineers and masons were trained in earthquake-safe construction community based disaster risk reduction programmes were developed
