Exocrine function

• • exocrine tissues of the pancreas secrete pancreatic juices into a duct which contain enzymes to digest food
  • The duct carries these juices to the small intestine
• • the cells responsible for synthesising and secreting pancreatic juices make up a structure called an acinus which has a tubule at the centre of the group of cells
• • acini are grouped together into lobules which are separated by connective tissue
• acini produces enzymes
• • tubules from different acini join together to make up intralobular ducts which join together to make up the pancreatic duct
