• Chlorine is a green gas at room temperature
• Bromine is a red-brown liquid at room temperature
• Iodine is a grey solid at room temperature
• Using the trend from Chlorine, Bromine and Iodine, you can predict the physical properties of Fluorine (yellow gas) and Astatine (black solid)
• As you go up Group 7, reactivity increases, so a more reactive halogen will always displace a less reactive halogen,

  e.g. chlorine + potassium bromide --> potassium chloride + bromine
