Density

Cards (4)

  • ρ=\rho=mV\frac{m}{V}
    • Density (kg/m3)
    • Mass (kg)
    • Volume (m3)
  • To find the density of a regular solid practical
    • Measure the width, height and length
    • Use a balance to measure the mass
    • divide the mass by volume to find density
  • To find the density of a irregular solid practical
    • Use a balance to measure the mass
    • Fill a eureka can with water
    • Submerge the object in the eureka can and collect the displaced liquid in a measuring cylinder
    • Record the volume of displaced water and then calculate the density
  • To find the density of a liquid practical
    • Place a measuring cylinder on a balance set to 0
    • Pour 10ml of the liquid in the measuring cylinder and record the mass
    • Pour another 10ml and record the total volume and mass
    • Repeat until the measuring cylinder is full
    • For each measurement find the density and then take an average to get an accurate density
