Hormones

• Two mechanisms: First involves protein hormones and secondary messenger molecules, and second regulates transcription and translation (can switch on gene and start transcription) and involves lipid-soluble hormones
• Hormones bind to transcription factors’ receptors, changing its shape and releasing inhibitor molecule so it can now bind to promoter region on DNA and enable RNA polymerase to begin transcription
