  • December 1929: All-in collectivisation.
    It was shown to be a voluntary act, of peasants giving up their farms to benefit their country, but in reality most peasants hated the idea of collectivisation.
  • The majority of peasants rebelled by
    • Setting fire to their farms
    • Killing and eating their animals and any crops they had in order to try and prevent the government from 'wanting' to collectivise their farms.
  • 'Civil war' broke out in the countryside, although this was concealed to those in the city who continued to believe the peasants were fond of the idea of collectivisation.
