  • Research evidence:
    CS is more effective than AT. McConaghy et al directly compared electric shock aversion therapy with covert sensitisation. A year after there was 90% of CS patents that reduced gambling. Compared to 30
    % success from aversion therapy. CS also reported less gambling cravings than AT.
  • treatment is not suitable for everyone:
    only works with highly motivated people with good imagination. Therapist guides client to understand what induces a negative reaction so they know what to avoid otherwise won't be successful.
