Reliability

• Reliability - the extent to which a finding is consistent. Concerns the consistency of symptoms measurement
• Reliability in SZ:

  Test - retest reliability

  Inter - rater reliability
• Test-retest reliability - occurs when a psychiatrist makes the same diagnosis on two separate occasions from the same information
• Inter-rater reliability - occurs when two different psychiatrists make the same diagnosis when independently assessing a patient
• The criteria for the DSM-5 and ICD-10 differ in their classification of schizophrenia
• The DSM-5 requires at least one positive symptom, whereas the ICD-10 can be based on negative symptoms alone
