  • What is Bi-lateral aid
    • aid given from one government to another usually with attached agreements
  • How does it attempt to reduce uneven development?
    Often a large sum of money is donated which means the government can fund top-down development projects such as hydroelectric dams which benefit a larger percentage of the population (E.g. India donated to Bhutan to fund a hydro dam)
  • Evaluation
    • attached agreements such as loans mean debt can occur, limiting the long-term success
    • Receiving countries often owes the donating country, leading to a power imbalance
