  • What is multi-lateral aid?
    Developed countries give money to international organisations such as the World Bank who then redistribute money in the form of loans to developing countries
  • How does it attempt to reduce uneven development?
    This aid funds top-down projects, most commonly from the World Bank and the United Nations. These international organisations are in control of the spending and implementation of the project funded.

    • the funding bi-passes the government - suitable for corrupt countries
    • there is a more complex transfer of money as it is passed through more stakeholders increasing the likelihood of it being wasted or lost account of
