    In the anglo saxon period, it was the king's duty to keep the king's peace. Similarly, in the norman period- this remained. The normans called it differently as the ' King's Mund '

    the system of the trial by ordeal remained as there is still the belief that God had the final judgement

    The concept of collective responsibility still remained within local villages as tithings were still used and the hue and cry remained as these were seen effective in small local villages since everyone knew eachother
  • The hue and cry was a system used in medieval England to raise the alarm and gather a group of people to pursue and apprehend a criminal.
