A voltmeter measures the potential difference ( the voltage )
This is a fixed resistor
What does a fixed resistor do?
Allows a specific amount of current and voltage through
A variable resistor changes the current to change the resistance
The circuit component, Thermistor changes resistance when the temperature changes
What does the diode allow?
Only allows one current to flow in one direction
The light dependant resistor changes light when the resistance changes
Resistance slows the flow of electrons in a circuit
What does it mean if a circuit has high resistance?
low current
low energy
Higher potential difference
If the resistance increases, what 2 things will happen?
The potential difference increases and the current/energy decreases
What is the OMHS law?
Current is directly proportional to potential difference as long as the temperature is constant. If a component obeys OHMS law, we call it an Ohmic conductor
Thermistor - Increase the temperature, you decrease the resistance, so you have more current and energy
Light dependant resistor - Increases the light, you decrease the resistance so you have more current and energy
