• in 1486, Henry negotiated a 3-year treaty with James III of Scotland. after his assassination in 1488, the 15 year old James IV took over, and Henry did not fear scotland anymore
• In January 1487, Henry renewed Edward IV's long-time treaty with the Holy Roman Empire and Maximillian, meaning he did not have to worry about a foreign invasion whilst preoccupied with domestic security.
