What is the method of IV graphs for a diode or fixed resistor?
Measure potential difference using a voltmeter
Measure current using an Ammeter
Calculate the resistance using the equation voltage = current x resistance
Rearrange the equation to R = V ÷ I
Repeat for potential difference readings = 10V to + 10V in 2V intervals
Independent variable - Potential difference
Dependant variable - current
Diode graph - Only allows current to flow in one direction. A negative voltage shows no current flowing + a positive potential difference shows an increase in current as you increase the potential difference
Fixed resistor graph - Increase the potential difference, you increase the current, It is directly proportional so it is an ohmic conductor. The steeper the gradient the higher the resistance.
