• a strength is that it is measured quanitatively and this makes it useful for research purposes because there is data that is able to be scientifically analysed
• at the time it appeared to be a valid and reliable way of measuring androgyny and this is because the experiment was done with a piolet study and a large sample gorup. there was also a follow up study that involved a smaller sample of students who had produced similar results which highlights the test-retest reliability
• however, a limitation is that it was developed 40 years ago and the behaviour may have changed and may lack temporal validity and generalisability
• a limitation is that people may not have an insight to their degree of masculinity or femininity
