  • What does mitosis produce?

Genetically identical daughter cells that have the same amount of chromosomes.
  • What are the main uses of mitosis? g

Growth- when two haploid cells fuse together to form a diploid cell, it has all the genetic info needed to form the new organism. If it’s to resemble its parents, all the cells that grow from this original cell must be genetically identical. Mitosis ensures that this happens.
  • What other uses? rp
cells are damaged or die it’s important that the new cells produced have identical structure and function to the ones that have been lost.
  • What is the final main use? rd
Reproduction- single-celled organisms divide by mitosis to give 2 new organisms.
  • What are the 3 main stages of the cell cycle?

    Interphase, mitosis, cytokinesis
