physical characteristics of the tropical rainforest

• there are two main characteristics that distinguish the tropical rainforest from other biomes: climate and vegetation
• because tropical rainforests occur on, or very close to the equator, the climate is typically warm and wet
• the annual temperature average is around 26 degrees celcius and shows little variation from day to day or month to month
• annual rainfall usually exceeds 2500 milimetres
• the abundant supply of water feeds the huge rivers, such as the amazon in Brazil and the Congo in central Africa, which are one of the more impressive features of the tropical rainforest
