• Large Georgian + Victorian houses known as the 'Georgian quarter' were home to rich slave merchants + industrialists
• Toxteth was an area of low density + middle class citizens who commuted inner city in the late 19th century
• However, growth and industrialisation meant Toxteth was filled with cheap, terraced housing for dock workers in the 19th century = densely populated
