  • Carbonate Test Practical:
    1. 1 pipette of a Carbonate in one test tube
    2. 2 cm^3 of limewater into a boiling tube
    3. Add 1 pipette of dilute Hydrochloric Acid to the Carbonate and it will fizz
    4. Place bung on top of it and connect to limewater
    5. Shake till limewater turns cloudy
  • Sulfate Test Practical:
    1. 1 cm^3 of a Sulfate in one test tube
    2. Add a few drops of Hydrochloric Acid
    3. Add 1 cm^3 of Barium Chloride
    4. Wait till white precipitate appears
  • Halide Test Practical:
    1. 1 cm^3 of Halide into a test tube
    2. Add a few drops of nitric acid
    3. Add 1cm^3 of silver nitrate
    4. Will form either a white/creamy/yellow precipitate
  • What 3 halides do we need to know?
    Chloride, Bromide and Iodide
