    • Genesis 1 explains how:
      • God is the only creator
      • God existed before he created the world
      • The world was well planned and is sustained by God
      • God blessed creation, which means that all creation is holy
      • God created everything in Heaven and on Earth in six days
      • On the seventh day, God rested
      • on day one and two, God created the light and sky
      • on day three, he created dry land and plants
      • on day four, he created the Sun, Moon and the stars
      • on day five, he created the sea and flying creatures
      • on day six, he created land animals and humans
      • on day seven, he rested
      • the Bible teaches that God created mankind in his image
      • "So, God created mankind in his own image"
      • this shows how important all humans are to God
      • it reminds Christians to spread love and forgiveness like God did
      • "God formed a man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living thing."
      • God breathed life into Adam which allows Christians to believe they have soul (non physical, spiritual dimension that connects them with God)
      • some Christians believe that the soul lives on after death
      • having a soul sets humans apart from the rest of creation
      • "Let us make man in our image.. and let them have dominion"
      • this shows how humans have dominion over God's creations
      • this does not mean that humans are able to exploit the Earth's resources
      • Christians believe that humanity's purpose is to look after the world God created like stewards
      • this is because creation belongs to God, not humans
      • Chrisitans believe that the Trinity was present at the creation
      • God the Father as the creator was present, and the Holy Spirit as present in "Let there be light"
      • John describes Jesus as present at the creation, as the Word
      • "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God"
    • interpretations:
      • literal - some Christians interpret the Bible as completely true
      • inspiraional - some Christians think that the Bible was writted by people but was inspired by God
      • they believe there may be human error in the Bible
      • metaphorical - some Christians believe the BIble is symbolic and also lean on scientific theories
