  • Unscientific concepts

-Unsuitable to study human experiences. Advocated holistic approach. Rejecting scientific method emphasises being objective and reducing humans variables can be manipulated. Lack support based off empirical evidence which lacks falsification.
  • Overly optimistic
-human behaviour, thinks humans are innately good and strive for self actualisation. The approach is at a loss to explain horrific events like genocide and war.
  • Westernised concepts

-Self-actualisation and Maslow's hierarchy of needs are culturally bias. It explains experiences of those in individualistic cultures where self independence and self achievement is focused on. Argues contributions of humanism are limited to western societies.
