TMB will reduce amount of extraneous variables which will allow the experimenter to establish cause and effect between IV and DV. Also procedures allow other researchers to replicate study and archive same findings. Therefore scientific approach is high in validity and reliability.
• A weakness of scientific approach is that research takes place in artificial settings. FE many scientific studies take place highly controlled laboratory experiments. TMS it tells us little about how people act in more natural environment so findings cannot be generalised to other settings. Therefore scientific approach lacks ecological validity.
