Arab Nations

• Jordan allowed Palestinian refugees to settle as Jordanian citizens but Palestinians were/are not welcomed by all other Arab nations and many kept them at border
• Syria, Jordan and Egypt, provided support for PLO in six day war; but Syria and Egypt were more worried with their lost lands than refugees
• Many Palestinians believed they had to fight for their homeland alone now; many in West Bank stayed after 1967, over 300,000 fled when it was captured by Israelis mostly to Jordan
• From 1967 half of Jordan’s population (2mil) was Palestinian so Fatah concentrated forces in Jordan to recruit more volunteers
