As two continental plates are moving towards eachother, both with the same density, neither subducts and so the plates move upwards
As the two plates are moved upwards, they eventually create fold mountains such as the ‘Himalayas‘
As the plates move together, frictions locks the plates together, at a low point, which eventually, as the pressure buildings, creates shallow focused, high magnitude, earthquakes
Most of the magma which rises at this plate boundary cools in the deep roots of mountain before reaching the surface, which adds thickness to the mountain which add buoyancy to the lithosphere, which uplifts the surface
Small amounts of magma can reach the surface such as at ‘the Andes’
