procedure:- analysed 620 replies to 'love quiz' printed in an American local newspaper- quiz assessed 3 different aspects of a relationship:1) respondents current and most important relationship2) general love experiences3) attachment typefindings and conclusions:- 56% = securely attached- 25% = insecure avoidant- 19% = insecure resistant- attachment type reflected their romantic relationship:1) secure responders were the most likely to have good/longer lasting relationships2) avoidant respondents tended to be jealous and fear intimacyLimitations:- evidence on continuity of attachment is mixed, its not what we'd expect if internal models were important in development- most studies have issues with validity,validity of questionnaires and interviews is limited as they depend on respondents being honest- influence of infants attachment on future relationships is exaggerated,by overemphasising this we become yoyo pessimistic about peoples futures
