what does the iris do
it is the coloured part of the eye and it controls the amount of light entering
what is the main function of the retina
the retina converts light into neural signals that are sent to the brain for visual processing
what does the lens do
it changes its shape to focus on the light
what does the cornea do
it is a convex window that is transparent and it does most of the eye focussing
what does the pupil of the eye do
the pupil is the black circular opening in the center of the iris that allows light to enter the eye.

how do we see
when light (ie from the sun) hits the retina (light sensitive layer of tissue at the back of the eye), special cells; photoreceptors turn the light into electrical signals, which travel from the retina through the optic nerve and to the brain which turns them into image that we see
what happens to the light when it hits the cornea
because the cornea is curved, light refracts when it hits it
what do photoreceptors do to turn light into electrical signals 
they take in the light
why are electrical signals only sent to the brain 
the brain only understands electrical signals
