    • Probability that chance caused any difference or associations - in biology p=0.05 is used 
     
  • T test - differences in mean values 
    Spearman's rank - significant correlations/association between 2 variables 
    Chi squared - differences in observed and expected values 
  • smaller the P value, more significant the difference/association
  • if difference is not significant, difference/correlation is likely due to chance
