  • fourth wall = the imaginary 'wall' separating the audience from the characters; "breaking the fourth wall" involves addressing the audience
  • frame rate = the number of frames captured per second (fps); higher frame rates create smoother motion, whereas lower rates create a strobe effect
  • POV (point of view) shot = a shot that shows what a character sees from their perspective, immersing the audience in their experience
  • tracking shot = a continuous shot that follows a subject, often using a dolly, Steadicam, or a handheld camera to create smooth camera movement
