  • Interactionists view - labelling will happen with sentencing young people, they promote not labelling anyone. If they are labelled from a young age then they are more likely to offend.
  • Marxist view - the working class is more likely to offend, because of material deprivation, thinks that class is the issue for crime not age which gives the ruling class more power.
  • Functionalist view - want education not sentencing as it helps to give them the skills to become a fully functioning member of society, this will help to keep and maintain social cohesion (having the same norms and values). Wants to teach and educate young offenders with norms and values.
