Statistics

• 1 in 10 violent criminals who are convicted for first time offences are put in prison
• Around 81,000 violent offenders haven't been sentenced in 5 years
• 1/3 of first time sex offenders were given prison sentences, <1/5 of those who have committed robberies have been given prison sentences
• In 2015, 168,000 first time offenders (95.7% convicted) were given community sentences in ENgland and Wales
• 38 rapists (8 adults and 30 juveniles) were given community sentences in 2011
