Theories Views

• Interactionist view - labelling will happen with life sentences - follow label (self-fulfilling prophecy) which could lead them to a deviant career
• Marxist view - benefit the bourgeoisie as it gives them more control as the proletariat are oppressed and more likely to have a life sentence
• Functionalist view - they bring society together and makes it safer, it also creates social cohesion
• Feminist view - serious crimes against women are ignored and are not punished seriously enough in society
