Theories Views

• Marxist view - will present more crimes committed by the proletariat as the media will be made up of bourgeoisie who want to keep control and helps them to keep false class consciousness
• Interactionist view - it labels certain individuals and groups as to committing crimes so the police will look out for them more which means that they are more likely to get recorded and put into official statistics
• Feminist view - crimes against women are not given enough coverage by the media nor are crimes committed by women
• Functionalist view - everything has a function including media and crime, the media and crime need to work together to create social cohesion as the media telling the society about certain crimes can help with value consensus
