Slaby and Frey (1975)- they found children with gender constancy paid more attention to same-sex models (boys watched the tyre changing and girls watched the baking) Children who had not reached constancy were equally interested in both films.
Contradictory evidence
Bussey and Bandura (1992)- found strong evidence that boys and girls show differences in gender behaviour at age 2 years, well before Kohlberg’s gender constant stage.
Supporting evidence
Munroe et al (1994)- they found similarities in developmental stages across cultures implies that cognitive maturation is a universal process so probably has a biological basis.
