    a loss of usual experience or normal functioning
    • less able to cope with everyday life
    • affect their ability to cope without significant help at home
    • may not be aware of their negative symptoms or may not believe them to be as bad as family members do
  • avolition
    severe lack of motivation to do any purposeful activity, making it hard to get anything done
    • some signs may be poor hygiene or lack of energy
  • speech poverty
    lack f speech fluency and productivity
    could be a delay in their response during conversations
    • research has shown that they can produce less words spontaneously in a task of verbal fluency, not because of knowing less but because its harder to produce them
    • may result in them choosing to engage in less conversations and give short responses
