• eukaryotic cells:

  • genetic material enclosed in a nucleus
  • part of a larger organism
  • example: plants and animal cells
• prokaryotic cells:

  • genetic material not enclosed in a nucleus
  • single dna loop
  • there may be one or more small rings of dna called plasmids
• measurements:

  • centimeter : 10 millimeters
  • millimeter: 1000 micrometers
  • micrometer: 1000 nanometers
  • nanometer: 0.001 micrometers
