  • Pilot studies: A small-scale version of an investigation that takes place before the real investigation is conducted. The aim is to check procedures, materials etc all work. This allows changes to be made is needed.
  • Single-bind procedure:
    • Researcher is aware of the aim of the study.
    • Participants aren’t aware of the aim of the study.
  • Double-bind procedure:
    • Participants are unaware of the aims of the study.
    • The researcher is unaware which group is control group.
  • Control group: sets a baseline of what should happen
