  • Less confounding variables
-Romanian orphans were put straight into institutions whereas other studies showed infant suffered neglect, abuse and trauma which the Romanian Orphans didn't suffer.
  • Institutionalisation can be reversed
-only if adequate care is provided early into the attachment forming.
-If infants are adopted sooner and allows them to be in stable care during the critical period the negative effects from institutionalisation can be removed.
  • Generalisability
-Romanian Orphan study is extreme and not a typical representation of children raised in other institutionalised care.
-Findings tell us little about children living in better quality areas so undermines the research.
