Procedure – She observed 30 babies and mothers to assess the quality of mother infant attachment Findings – She found that high levels of synchrony was associated with better quality infant mother attachments this shows that interactional synchrony is important to form a strong secure attachment.

    Investigated interactional synchrony in infants that were 2 weeks old Method They used a controlled observation where they videotaped babies watching a adult experimenter make facial expressions and hand gestures . A dummy was placed in the child’s mouth to prevent a response Findings They found that babies as young as 2 weeks old can imitate facial expressions and gestures displaying Interactional synchrony as they mirrored the experimenters’ facial expressions.
