Ecological footprint

Cards (2)

  • Ecological footprint is the measure of the environmental impact of communities or individuals. It is defined as the total area of productive land and water required to produce the resources a population consumes and absorb the waste it produces.
  • To live within the means of our planet's resources, the world's ecological footprint would have to equal 1.7 hectares per person; in 2019 humanity was using natural resources 1.75 times faster than our planet's ecosystems can regenerate.
