More was a distinguished lawyer and humanist scholar, a believer in platonist ideas. he was most famous as the author of "Utopia", stating "For it is impossible that all should be well, unless all men are good"
More was a valued scholar and eventually councillor to H8, he even became lord chancellor in 1529. however, he resigned in 1532 following H8's changes to the church, being executed for treason for denying the royal supremacy
