    • Technology developments in the 19th century led to the development of the telegraph, telephone, and radio which prompted and increased globalisation.

    • Containerisation = the use of large shipping containers to transport goods globally. (First ship was the Ideal-X)

      • Process is easily mechanised

    • Shrinking world = The physical distance between places remains unchanged, but new technologies reduce the time taken to transport goods/people/communicate information. (Time-space compression)
