Second Parliament (February 1626-June 1626)Dominated by concerns of finance and foreign affairs and Buckingham's influence
Parliament continued to not grant Tonnage and Poundage, although Charles collected it anyway
Religious tension increased due to the York house conference in February 1626 organised by Buckingham.
In the conference, Arminianism was not condemned and the writings of Richard Montagu were discussed: not condemned , creating a pro-Arminian, anti-calvinist faction at court.
Religious and international tension was caused by the marriage Treaty with France which resulted in war with France and the need for more funding
Buckingham was placed for the blame for the international problems
Impeachment of Buckingham
In june 1626, the House of Commons tried to impeach Buckingham
Impeachment is when a person is accused by the House of Commons and tried by the House of Lords- its a serious legal process and only used when Parliament does not believe their grievances can be resolved any other way
To prevent the impeachment, Charles dissolved Parliament. This saved Buckingham but deprived him of 4 subsidies.Sir John Elliot and Sir Dudley Digges were sent to the Tower of London for bringing the charges
