  • In the final act, Act 5, the long, awaited climax is finally met, as characters drop dead one after the other, alongside the dramatic conclusion of Hamlet finally killing Claudius.
  • The constant battle between Claudius and his nephew is over as both die at the hands of each other in almost unison, signaling that Hamlet's character progression and his demand could only be fulfilled if he is put to rest himself.
  • The final act is significant in displaying the importance of Hamlet/Claudius conflict in character development as it clearly displays how if this final dispute and other character deaths had not taken place, Hamlet wouldn’t have finally taken action and forced Claudius to poison himself - otherwise it is certain that nothing in Hamlet would’ve changed, so therefore he has progressed himself as a character.
