  • character
    provide a credible character reference from people who have known them for 3 years to give an idea of character traits. consider any convictions given to professional that affects suitability of practice.
  • health
    people on register must provide information every 2 years when re-registering about general health. requirement to provide information about any health issues that they have. If health affects their ability to practice they must limit/stop their work and delcare it to the HCPC
  • standards of proficiency
    set of specific expectations to practice effectively: autonomy and accountability. They must be able to demonstrate and use skills throughout practice
  • standards of conduct, performance and ethics
    14 guidelines to follow in clinical practice, like maintaining confidentiality and acting within limits of own knowledge
  • standards for continuing personal development
    document regular training that they undertake to develop own practice, including training events that they attend, evidence of how they change their practice and evaluate effectiveness of change. they should keep up to date with trends in clinical practice
  • standards of education and training
    minimum qualification levels before people can register to practice in different areas of health. eg clinical would need a doctorates degree and training courses to ensure they meet required standards for proficiency in the area of practice
  • standards for prescribing
    set out safe practice for prescribing medication by health and care professionals, also include required knowledge and training to be able to prescribe within their professional practice.
